HAMBURG SEMIFINAL. Tsitsipas not worried for arriving late to the French Open

Stefanos is enjoying his time in Hamburg and he is not worried about what is going to happen at the French Open. At least for this week.

Happy Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is a rather happy guy right now. The Greek sensation went through a tough few weeks after he lost an impossible match at the US Open where he wasn’t able to convert 6 match points against Borna Coric. Later, things remained ugly for him in Rome, where he crashed out in his first match against an inspired Jannik Sinner, but playing probably the worst tennis of this strange season.

Tsitsipas in Hamburg and about the French Open

Fortunately, things got much better for Stefanos in Hamburg where he is seeded no.2. The Greek ace reached the semifinal after conceding no sets and defeating the likes of Dan Evans, Pablo Cuevas and Dusan Lajovic.

These 2020 schedules are rather packed, to say the least, and the tournament in Hamburg will end on Sunday that is the exact day when the French Open will commence. When asked if he is worried about arriving late at the French Open, Stefanos replied:

“Right now I am not thinking of what will happen next week. I want to enjoy the moment, to play good tennis. I am focused on what is going on here in Hamburg and I feel great, so I am not worried about anything”.

Stefanos is in the semifinal in Germany where he will face either Alexander Bublik or, most probably, Christian Garin.

Tsitsipas back with his father and coach

Stefanos’ demise at the US Open was ugly not only because he squandered so many match points, but also for the fact that the world no.6 had a rather aggressive reaction during the match toward his father (and coach) shouting: “You don’t know!”

Stefanos’ father Apostolos looked shacked by the reaction and eventually he wasn’t with his son at the recent Internazionali di Roma, but he reappears in Hamburg where things are finally getting better.

Tsitsipas’ draw at the French Open

Stefanos received a rather tough draw at the French Open with Shapovalov, Medvedev, Djokovic and Nadal on his way.
