It sounds easy to say that Nadal did not sweat much to cruised past Ryan Sweeting…
In fact, the Spaniard won in straight easy sets by 6-2 6-1 6-1.
Many doubted the actual form of Nadal after he suffered from a bad flu in Qatar where he had not options but to lose against Nicholas Davydenko in the semi finals by 6-3 6-2.
But Nadal is Nadal… and he lost only 5 games in the first 2 matches.
Ok, he did not play against top players and his 1st round opponent retired when he was losing 6-0 5-0, but the World Nr.1 looks set to go for history (ie, holding all 4 slams).
In the 3r round he will play against the 18 years and local would-be hero Bernard Tomic.
The Australian is incredibly confident he can bring down Nadal.
‘I’m hitting the ball great, my confidence is up there especially after two matches, I played a left hander before I played him, that’s always good’ Tomic said.Advertisement: Story continues below
‘There’s not much weaknesses [in his game but] I don’t think he’ll like my game.
‘He’ll like the players that give him a lot of time, a lot of rally shots. The way I mix it up, he’s not going to like.’
Tomic is going for history, he is 199 in the world, he entered the main draw benefiting form a wild card and he will play with a living tennis legend that won the last 3 slams.
If Tomic beats Nadal, he will be the crowned as a national hero, otherwise… nothing to lose.
