Naomi Osaka had a rather successful and emotional American Swing in the past few weeks. The Japanese sensation reached the final of the Western & Southern Open before conceding the title (walkover) to Vika Azarenka as she was nursing a hamstring injury. In the following fortnight, Osaka won the US Open still with the hamstring injury carrying a strong message in support of the “black lives matter” movement.
Naomi could not recover in time for the French Open to withdraw from the last major of this unique year. In the meantime, Osaka posted a rather emotional message for the people that supported her during this journey as follows:
“A moment. Sorry for posting another pic but I just want to thank my team. Reflecting on it we really won a slam during a pandemic!!! So much love to for everyone because during the quarantine we were really grinding it out and I’m literally just the result of everyone’s hard work coming together + we’re all striving towards the same goals.
They’re the ones that see everything that goes on behind the scenes, (good and bad) so it really means a lot to win this one after what happened at the start of the year. Also thanks to everyone that wasn’t there but called me and helped me feel less lonely haha. Also s/o to everyone watching from home. Thank you guys, love you ❤️”
Naomi also had the luxury of having her boyfriend YBN Cordae supporting her during the lockdown and her long road that brought Naomi to conquer her 3rd slam. Later, he was slammed for some improper pictures taken while showing the middle finger when Naomi was posing with the trophy.
