Lorenzo Musetti is probably the most interesting player to watch during this edition of the Internazionali d’Italia. The upcoming Italian has never played in the main draw at ATP level and has defeated Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori back to back and without dropping a single set.
Still ranked no.249, the Italian is no.179 in the live rankings and he will be no.141 if he wins his next match vs. Koepfer.
Rafael Nadal congratulating Musetti
There was a lovely exchange on the practice court between Rafael Nadal and Musetti ahead of Lorenzo’s match against Nishikori. The veteran didn’t miss the chance to give his “well done” to Lorenzo, saying that with his (great) backhand, he will not have problems.
Rafa was right as Musetti conceded just 7 games to Nishikori after winning 6-3 6-4.
