Naomi Osaka has conquered her 3rd slam after a rather inspiring run at the US Open. During the US swing, the Japanese sensation hit the headlines hard for her activism and her walking with face masks carrying with the names of victims of racism has already become iconic.
Naomi has received congratulations from all sorts of people all over the world and she was also touched by a lovely message sent by Michelle Obama.

Naomi went 1 step further after she chose to wear a beautiful headwrap during the US Open photoshoot. Osaka posted one of the pictures saying:
“You already know I had to bring out the headwrap for this one 😉”
On Twitter, Naom added:
“I would like to thank my ancestors because everytime I remember their blood runs through my veins I am reminded that I cannot lose.”

It’s worth reminding that the headwrap represents the cultural and historical lineage that black Americans still have with the African continent. The African American head-wrap has functioned as a sort of ‘uniform of rebellion’ against the loss of self-definition.
