Andy Murray, Tsvetana Pironkova and Eugenie Bouchard managed to be the only non-French players to receive a well-deserved wildcard for the upcoming Roland Garros.

Andy Murray

Now the world no.110, Andy has been trying to stage a complete comeback after battling with his hip. The Brit seems to have the tennis to compete at the highest level. At the recent Western & Southern Open in New York he managed to beat top players such as Frances Tiafoe and Sascha Zverev. However, he seemed to struggle after winning both encounters in 3 sets to lose easily to Milos Raonic in the 3rd round.

Andy had a similar experience at the US Open. After beating Yoshihito Nishioka following an epic 5-setter, he was completely out of sorts when playing Felix Auger Aliassime in the second round.

The Brit played his last match on the 3rd of September when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-2 6-3 6-4 in the 2nd round of the U.S. Open.

Andy was the French Open runner-up back in 2016 when he lost in 4 sets to Novak Djokovic.

Tsvetana Pironkova

The Bulgarian had an inspiring run at the recent US Open where she reached the quarters. What was remarkable about Tsveana’s effort was that she was out of competitions for 3 years when becoming a mother of a lovely child. She was stopped in New York only by the great Serena Williams after she conquered the 1st set.

Currently the world no.156, Pironkova played her last match on the 9th of September when she capitulated to Serena Williams 4-6 6-3 6-2 in the quarter of the U.S. Open.

Eugenie Bouchard

Genie Bouchard seemed to have an amazing career 6 years ago when she had an inspiring season. In 2014 Genie reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, and the Roland Garros before reaching the final in Wimbledon and Wuhan. She also had a nice run at the US Open and in Indian Wells where she reached the 4th round in both competitions. Then Genie’s performance plummeted with the Canadian often struggling to even stay in the top200.

Bouchard had a great run recently in Istanbul, where she reached the final after starting the event from the qualifications.

Now ranked no.167, the Canadian played her last match on the 13th of September when she lost to Patricia Maria Tig 2-6 6-1 7-64 in the final in Istanbul.

Eugenie Bouchard’s latest run in Istanbul was the best achievement of her season.
