Sharapova advances to the 3 round in the Australian Open

Maria Sharapova had a tough match against Virgina Razzano.

The former world nr.1 found herself 0-3 forty love in no time in the opening set.

At that point there was the suspect that another big name was about to disappear from the women’s draw after the ‘Ivanovic drama’ and the nasty (very nasty) defeat of Dinara Safina (6-0 6-0 against KIm Clijster in 44 minutes).

Then Maria found her tennis and she managed to get back into the game with brilliance and eventually won the first set at the tie breaker.

The Russian managed to hold back Razzano in the second set and she won the second set by 6-3.

‘I’ve been No.1; I’ve won Grand Slams. I’ve been in a position where, in semifinals or finals in Grand Slams where I’ve faced tough opponents and had to beat them in order to be the champion’ Sharapova  said. ‘This is a different stage in my career. This is where I’m trying to find my groove after being gone for a while and also finding it on the court and playing matches. I’m enjoying that. It’s also tough to say that you’re enjoying when you’re struggling a little bit and maybe not winning the matches that you want to be winning. But when you’re feeling like you’re on the right path, it’s gratifying that you’re out there and just trying to improve.’
