Dominic Thiem explains what happened to his Achilles and his plans

Dominic Thiem And His Injury To The Achilles

Dominic Thiem is going to face his dear friend Alexander Zverev in the US Open final after defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. However, things got extremely complicated by the end of the second set as the Austrian sensation got injured to his Achilles. Eventually, Dominic managed to finish the match, but there are some obvious doubts about his injury.

After the semifinal, Dominic admitted that he was struggling with his leg, but he could finish the match. He was not sure if the adrenaline helped or the change of the shoes was a key factor.

In the interview that followed the semifinal, Thiem commented:

“My heel started to hurt after a wrong step. It was really hurting but I changed the shoe with a different insole. I’m pain free now. I hope it’s not just the adrenaline and the foot feels good tomorrow.”

Both Dominic Thiem and Sascha Zverev decided not to play the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome after their long run in New York.
