Thiem, Zverev will not play in Rome. Nadal and Djokovic the top favorites

Dominic Thiems And Sascha Zverev

Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev eventually decided to join Daniil Medvedev in not playing the Internazionali d’Italia after they reached the US Open final. Their decision will make Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic the absolute favorite to win the Italian tournament.

Thiem and Zverev’s pulling out is not a surprise as the Internazionali d’Italia were scheduled back to back the US Open. Actually, there is a bit of a surprise that Serena Williams hasn’t withdrawn yet from the premier event in Rome after her long run at the US Open. She will probably “use” the event as a sort of training on clay.
