Good result for Marina Erakovic as she is the first Kiwi to win a WTA tournament since Belinda Cordwell in 1989.
Ranked world no.71, Marina had a good start of the final to win the first set 6-1 after 27 minutes. On the other side of he net Lisiki was really battling to withdraw just at the beginning of the second set.

After retiring Sabine LIsicki offered her apologies to the fans to say “I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to finish the match,” she said. “I was sick the last few days… I just couldn’t do better today. Marina played a great match.”

“This is my first title and unfortunately it did go like this, but Sabine, congratulations.
