Kei Nishikori will try to win his 3rd career title, but there is a combative Feliciano Lopez on his path.
Nishikori
The Japanese has been playing a wonderful tournament to reach the final without dropping a single set. Kei didn’t break a sweat in the semifinal as Marinko Matosevic retired after 37 minutes when he was 6-4 down because of an injury to his right foot.
Lopez
Feliciano had to battle much more to defeat Istomin 6-2 3-6 6-3 in 1 hour and 49 minutes.
“He is a great player, he’s in very good shape,” Lopez said of Nishikori. “I think it’s going to be a tough match, he’s very fast-moving all around the court and I have be aggressive and play my best tennis if I want to win,” said Lopez. “You have to take the opportunities when they come,”
The Spaniard has been sidelined by a wrist innury for some time to be ranked world no.47. This will be his 8th final, the first since Johannesburg 2010
Head to head
It’s 1-0 for Feliciano that won 6-4 7-6(5) in the third round of Barcelona 2011
