This US Open is quite unique for a number of reasons, one of these is that 3 mothers are in the quarters. Serena Williams, Tsvetana Pironkova and Victoria Azarenka are having a great run during the American major to be all of them 3 steps away to win the slam.

Serena Williams and her daughter Olympia

Serena has been doing everything she can to win her 24th slam to match Margaret Court’s record after becoming a mom. The American sensation gave birth to Olympia back on the 1st of September 2017 and that was almost going to have a tragic epilogue. Unfortunately, Serena had some life-threatening complications but the American champion found the way to recover. Now Serena is inseparable from her daughter that is following her all over the world.

At the moment ranked no.8, Serena Williams has a 15-4 win-loss record in 2020. Serena is now having a run at the U.S. Open where she toppled Kristie Ahn 7-5 6-3, Margarita Gasparyan 6-2 6-4, Sloane Stephens 2-6 6-2 6-2 and Maria Sakkari 6-3 6-76 6-3.

Pironkova and her son Alexander

Pironkova is back to competitions after 4 years as she gave birth to her son Alexander in April 2018. The Bulgarian is probably the biggest surprise of the tournaments and she started to turn heads after beating Garbine Muguruza in straight sets in the 2nd round. Tsvetana admitted that it is not easy to be away from her son for so long. She didn’t anticipate going so deep at the US Open, but of course, she doesn’t really complain about it and she will try to keep her run.

Tsvetana has a 4-0 win-loss record in 2020. Pironkova is playing at the U.S. Open where she overcame Liudmila Samsonova 6-2 6-3

, Garbine Muguruza 7-5 6-3, Donna Vekic 6-4 6-1 and Alize Cornet 6-4 6-75 6-3.

The former world no.1 had a good recovery after the pregnancy, but things got complicated with her partner and they started a rather painful legal battle for the custody of Leo. Finally, they found an agreement and Vika is back to competitions. The Belarussian won the Western & Southern Open and she is having a fantastic run at the US Open.

Currently ranked no.27, Victoria has a 9-2 win-loss record in 2020. The Belarussian is playing at the moment at the U.S. Open where she bested Barbara Haas 6-1 6-2, Aryna Sabalenka 6-1 6-3, Iga Swiatek 6-4 6-2 and Karolina Muchova 5-7 6-1 6-4.
