Nishikori retires from Wimbledon

Tough luck for Kei Nishikori that wasn’t able to compete in the Wimbledon second round against Giraldo.

Kei looked a bit “unhappy” already in the previous round after beating Bolelli in 5 sets and there were already some rumors about physical problems. Eventually Kei had to bow to announce his retirement for an injury to his left calf

Nishikori: It’s very disappointing

In the press conference Kei explained “I thought it was going to be OK for today.  it hurt just walking and running.  It’s not a big injury, but it’s a little tear. It’s very disappointing. I thought I was playing well on grass. It’s very unfortunate to lose this chance, but hopefully I can do well in the U.S. series.”

Kei reached the 4th round last year in Wimbledon, so he will lose some precious points. Let’s see what he can do during the American summer.
