Djokovic easy to the 2nd round

Novak Djokovic has no problems to beat Jarko Nieminen 6-4 6-2 6-3. The match lasted just 92 minutes with Nole struggling just a bit in the very beginning (he was 1-3 down in the opener). Match Stats.

This was Nieminem’s last match in Wimbledon as the 33-year-old is planning to retire soon.

Djokovic: I’ve done enough to win in straight sets.

Nole commented “I would rate [the match] probably around 7 or 8 [out of 10]. I think it was a very solid performance. I’ve done just enough to win in straight sets. He started off very well, very aggressive, [with] winners in the first couple games. I managed to stay calm and believed that I could come back. That’s what I’ve done.

I think the crucial turning point was the 10th game of the first set when I won the set and I started playing more freely. I thought I had the match under control and everything was fine.”

Next vs. Tomic

The wolrd no.1 will play Bernard Tomic in the 3rd round. The Australian defeated a sticky Herbert 7-6 (3) 6-4 7-6 (5). Nole and Bernard have played each other already 3 times and head to head is 3-0 for the Serbian. They have already played in Wimbledon in 2011 (quarters) when Djokovic won 6-2 3-6 6-3 7-5.
