Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka are among the top favorites and most loved players at the upcoming US Open. However, given the current situation, there will be no fans cheering for our tennis superstars at the notoriously noisy Arthur Ashe Stadium. However, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) had the brilliant idea of bringing the fans at the US Open at least virtually.
Therefore, Â 9 LED screens appeared at the Arthur Ashe Stadium where fans will cheer for their tennis heroes. The so-called Fan Cam will enable fans everywhere in the world to record their cheers and encouragement for their favorite players. Of course, there will be all sorts of sponsorships involved and the Amex Card Members will get exclusive access to ask a player a question during the on-court post-match interview.
The virtual crowd sound
There will also be a “virtual crowd sound” that will be replicated getting the data from hundreds of hours of video footage captured during previous US Opens.
Dayana Yastremska posted an interesting couple of videos of the tests done to replicate the crowd noise. One thing is sure: this will be a rather interesting US Open!
