Sometimes things can reach an all-new level of awkwardness. Dayana Yastremska is definitely one of the most interesting prospects and personalities in women’s tennis, but on Tuesday she was blown away by Naomi Osaka in the Western & Southern Open. This clash had a lot of meaning since Naomi won her 2 slams under the guidance of Sascha Bajin that his Dayana’s current coach. Unfortunately, after doing an excellent job with Naomi, Sascha was badly fired soon after Osaka won the Australian Open for unknown reasons (impossible to comment about that). Later Bajin coached for a limited amount of time Kristina Mladenovic with excellent results, but then she decided to abandon the Frenchwoman to coach Yastremska.
Dayana and Sascha looked to enjoy a fantastic relationship, but Dayana’s results were not the ones that everyone expected from this partnership (at least for now). Still, the Ukrainian ace is ranked 25 and she has the full potential to break in the top20 with such a great coach.

However, things got extremely weird after Naomi defeated Dayana. Sascha wrote a nice message on Twitter congratulating the Japanese and her team for the match saying: “Congratulations to @naomiosaka and her team. She was the better player out there today and good luck for the rest of the tournament. #ClnCyTENNIS”
Dayana replied to Sascha’s message on Twitter saying: “I always thought that I remain the best player on the court in your eyes, even if I lose.”
Awkward.
