Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently in New York where he will try to have a deep run in both the Western & Southern Open and the US Open.
The players are competing in the so-called bubble that is a wide and restricted area that has the aim of protecting the players, their teams and the staff involved in the competitions at the Corona Park.
Tsitsipas about playing without fans
During the pre-tournament press conference, Stefanos discussed his feeling of playing the competitions without fans. The Greek ace commented:
“What’s good about the new US Open is it is going to be in the record books. It has never happened before, I assume. You are part of history I guess (smiling). That’s what makes it different. We are just used to every single year have spectators, being surrounded by people. This year, as I said, it is very different. What I find very interesting is, like, I want to see who is going to manage that better than anyone else.
It is going to be an interesting US Open, I tell you that. Again, it’s something different. I think we’re going to see quite a few surprises this year.”
Preview Tsitsipas vs. Anderson
Stefanos will face Kevin Anderson in his first match at the Western & Southern Open. The Greek champion will kick start his run from the 2nd round as being seeded no.4 allowed him to have a bye in the 1st round.
