Injured Ivanovic and Jankovic pull out the Fed Cup

Bad news for the Serbian camp as two of their most representative players will not be able to play the tie against the Slovak Republic .

Ana Ivanovic has announced her retirement from her facebook page to say

“I’m sorry to announce that I’m withdrawing from this weekend’s Fed Cup tie. I hurt my shoulder in Melbourne and it’s not yet fully recovered. I really hoped my physiotherapy was going to solve the problem sooner. It’s really a shame, because I don’t get many opportunities to play in Serbia.”

Serbia last year managed to reach the Fed Cup final where they lost to Czech Republic. For the tie against the Slovak Republic their team will be represented by young players such as Bojana Jovanovski (world no.39), Vesna Dolonc (no. 92), and Aleksandra Krunic (no.175).

On the French side, apparently Bartoli’s historic return to Fed Cup after 9 years may not take place because of a flu.
