The Internazionali D’Italia is extremely optimistic about its upcoming event. The tournament stressed that the entry list on the men’s side is better than the current one at the US Open. However, the same can be said about the WTA side as the Italian organization is blessed with the presence of Serena Williams alongside Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina that are among the big absentees in the US Open. Unfortunately,  Ashleigh Barty, Bianca Andreescu, and Aryna Sabalenka are not on the list so far. However, the final deadline is the 24th of August.

Ashleigh Barty in 2020

Now ranked no.1, Barty played her last match on the 28th of February when she lost to Petra Kvitova 6-4 2-6 6-4 in the semifinal in Doha.

During this season Ashleigh has a 11-3 win-loss record. The Australian conquered 1 title in Adelaide.

Serena Williams and Ashleigh Barty played each other twice. The head to head is 2-0 for Williams. The last time that they played, Serena Williams won 3-6 6-3 6-4 in the 2nd round in Paris (French Open) in May 2018.

Bianca Vanessa Andreescu in 2020

Ranked no.6, Andreescu played her last match on the 30th of October 2019 when she had to retire when playing against Karolina Pliskova in the round robin and the scoreline was 6-3 .

Bianca had to withdraw from the US Open. Rumors say that she has recovered from her knee injury, but she is now struggling with a foot injury. There are question marks about her participation in the rest of the season.

Aryna Sabalenka in 2020

Now ranked no.11, Sabalenka played her last match on the 12th of August when she was defeated by Cori Gauff 7-64 4-6 6-4 in the 2nd round in Lexington.

At the moment, this season Aryna has a 13-6 win-loss record. Sabalenka clinched 1 title in Doha.

Bianca Vanessa Andreescu and Aryna Sabalenka have never played each other. The last time that they squared off, Aryna Sabalenka won 2-6 6-4 6-3 in the 2nd round in Manchester (Manchester) in June 2017.
