Naomi Osaka, Frances Tiafoe, Vitalia Diatchenko and Amanda Anisimova have all decided to take part in the short US swing in New York where the Western & Southern Open will take place right before the US Open.

Given the global pandemic, the local organization has set up a series of strict rules to make things as safe as possible. Once tennis players and their teams arrive at the designated premises they are immediately tested and then stay in isolation until the results of their tests will be disclosed within 24 hours. In the meantime, the players have to find something to do during the short isolation.

Naomi Osaka

Naomi has recently hit the headlines for being the highest-paid female athlete in the world thanks to some very lucrative endorsements. Therefore, life is not that bad for her right now.

Currently ranked no.10, Naomi played her last match on the 7th of February when she lost to Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-0 6-3 in the Rubber 1 of the Fed Cup.

Naomi Osaka’s best result of the current year was getting to the semi-finals in Brisbane.

Frances Tiafoe

Frances was among the tennis players that unfortunately were infected by the Coronavirus. The entertaining American was completely surprised when he tested positive in Atlanta. However, he was lucky enough to have just mild symptoms and he will be more than ready to play in New York. When in isolation he spent his room time playing mini-golf (!!!) and doing some exercises.

Now ranked no.81, Francis played his last match on the 5th of March when he lost to Gregoire Barrere 4-6 6-2 7-64 in the 3rd round of the Indian Wells Challenger.

Vitalia Diatchenko

Vitalia is trying to make also the most out of her isolation to keep fit in the room. However, it seems to be difficult to avoid being bored. At the moment ranked no.110, the Russian played her last match on the 4th of March when she surrendered to Sofia Kenin 6-4 6-3 in the 1st round in Lyon.

Amanda Anisimova

Amanda Anisimova StudyingAmanda is more than eager to finally play the US Open. Unfortunately, the American sensation had to miss last year’s edition after her beloved father suddenly passed away right before the start of the event. Apparently, Amanda is spending her isolation doing some tests (education!).

Ranked world no.28, the American was supposed to play on the 26th of February. However, she conceded a walk over to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the 3rd round in Doha. Amanda Anisimova’s best result of the present season was getting to the semi-finals in Auckland.
