Belinda Bencic and Alize Cornet have a rather different opinion about the upcoming US Open and that shows how controversial this slam is right now.
It was pretty clear that Belinda wasn’t thrilled by playing tennis during this Coronavirus pandemic when she refused to share the court when she had to face Leonie Kung that was back from the tournament Palermo. Eventually, Belinda announced her withdrawal from the US swing on social media with the following message:
“Hi to all my Fans. I wanted to update you that I have made the difficult decision to skip the US swing in New York and will return to the tour starting in Rome next month. I would like to thank the US Open and USTA for all their work and effort they have put together to have both Cincinnati and the US Open take place this month. I am looking forward to returning to New York next year and wish everyone competing there in the coming weeks the best of luck. Beli”

Alize Cornet seems to be of a completely different opinion to share a rather happy image on Instagram saying:

Ranked world no.59, the French player played her last match on the 4th of March when she capitulated to Camila Giorgi 4-6 7-65 6-2 in the 2nd round in Lyon.
