There are some important news from a scheduling point of view as the ATP1000 in Rome will be anticipated of 1 week to take the original slot occupied by the now-defunct Mutua Madrid Open.
The event in Spain had to be played on the 14th of May soon after the US Open. However, eventually, it was canceled because of the new surge of the Coronavirus infections in the country. The demise of the Mutua Madrid Open generated a big problem as the Spanish authorities agreed not to impose the quarantine on the athletes coming to the country to play international events. Fortunately, the Italian government adopted the same measure and therefore no quarantine will be imposed in Italy for the players coming from New York (unless the mandatory Coronavirus test results positive).
