Serena Williams In Lexington

Serena Williams is finally back to competitions after being sidelined for more than 6 months for the Coronavirus pandemic. The American legend had a rather tough match in the first round in Lexington when she had to recover from 1-set-down before beating an in-form Bernarda Pera 4-6 6-4 6-1,

The atmosphere was pretty odd as the match was played without fans, but Serena managed to find the solution and eventually she liked the all set up.

“It was a really calm and chill atmosphere; I can’t say I disliked it. It was different; I’ve been through so many things in my career. I think I won today because I was calm for once, so that was really helpful.

I haven’t played, even those smaller exhibitions like a lot of other players; I’ve only been training, so I was missing shots, but getting back into the swing of things at the same time. I just knew I needed to do better,” she commented.

“I knew I could, and she hit so many winners, low to the court. I had to get used to her game a bit because she played really well. I didn’t know how I was going to feel or how I was going to do, but I really didn’t hate the atmosphere,” she added.
