Serena Williams chasing Margaret Court
Ranked no.9, Serena has been chasing for a couple of years her elusive 24th slam that would make her tie Margaret Court’s record.
The American sensation decided to play the event in Lexington to get back in “competition mode” to probably skip the Western and Southern Open. Serena played her last match on the 8th of February when she capitulated to Anastasija Sevastova 7-65 3-6 7-64 in the Rubber 4 of the Fed Cup.
Currently, this season Serena has a 8-2 win-loss record. Serena clinched 1 title in Auckland.
Naomi Osaka aiming to win her 2nd US Open
The 22-year-old was mysteriously absent from the entry lists of both the Western & Southern Open and the US Open. Eventually, Osaka got a wildcard for the W&S and she is confirmed to play the American major. Naomi won the US Open back in 2018 when she defeated Serena Williams after a rather dramatic final.
Currently ranked no.10, Naomi played her last match on the 7th of February when she was defeated by Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-0 6-3 in the Rubber 1 of the Fed Cup.
Naomi Osaka’s best result of this season was reaching the semi-finals in Brisbane.

Bianca Vanessa Andreescu back to the US Open
The 20-year-old had a not so great run after winning the US Open in 2019. She lost in the quarters in Beijing before getting injured at the WTA Finals. Bianca was meant to get back to competitions in Miami, but the Coronavirus pandemic shattered her hopes.
Currently ranked no.6, the Canadian played her last match on the 30th of October 2019 when she had to retire when playing against Karolina Pliskova in the round robin and the scoreline was 6-3 .
Cori Gauff chasing her 1st slam
Even if Coco is just 16 years old, she has already impressed in majors after reaching the second week in Wimbledon (2019) and at the Australian Open (2020). The American teenager is more than happy to get back to competitions to aim at the impossible: winning her first slam.
Currently ranked no.52, Cori played her last match on the 26th of January when she was defeated by Sofia Kenin 6-75 6-3 6-0 in the 4th round of the Australian Open.
