Alexander Zverev and Nick Kyrgios are definitely following completely different paths. Once the German and the Australian were in fantastic terms, but things seem to have deteriorated rather quickly in these months preceding the US Open.

Kyrgios heavily criticized Sascha for both his participation in the Adria Tour and the fact that he broke his promise to self-isolate soon after.  While Nick has recently confirmed that he won’t play the US Open, Sascha confirmed that he will compete in the American major.

Sascha Zverev and the US Open

The German sensation is currently playing the UTS and during a recent interview, he didn’t sound so thrilled to play the upcoming US Open.

We’ll see when it continues, where it continues (the season). Obviously we’ll hope for New York. But US right now is a dangerous place to go but we’ll see what they decide about the tournament,”  he said.

Later, Sascha was asked about the fact that after the US stint, players are required to compete on clay on a tight schedule.

Sascha replied as follows.

“I’ve done it last year. I played grass court and some clay court and then hard court. In three weeks I played on three different surfaces,” said Zverev. “I’m still quite young, so I hope I can adjust better than others.”
