Grigor Dimitrov didn’t have it easy in the last few weeks after he got infected by the Coronavirus during Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour. The Bulgarian sensation felt completely out of sort when he played Borna Coric in Zadar and when back to Monte Carlo, he tested positive to the Coronavirus.

Dimitrov and the US Open

Grigor is now playing the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, and he confessed that he went through hell when battling against the Covid-19. The Bulgarian also confirmed that he doesn’t feel he has completely recovered. When asked about his intention about playing the upcoming US Open, he didn’t hide his doubts.

I have not decided. I’m not sure whether I will be able to recover that quick or fly again. I will have to put my body through a really rigorous regime again. It’s been 10 days since I have been back on my feet. It’s ambitious for me to go play and I don’t know how my body will respond,” he commented.

Dimitrov reached the semifinal last year at the US Open after beating Roger Federer in 5 sets in the quarters.

Djokovic, Murray, Serena Williams committed to the US Open

The organization of the US Open is doing everything possible to stage the slam preserving the safety of the participants. While some key players such as Rafael Nadal and Simona Hale are widely expected not to play, some others big fishes such as Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Serena Williams seem to be committed to the cause.
