Borna Coric was rather optimistic about Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour. Novak had all the good intentions for the event and the reception from the fans was great. When talking to Grigor Dimitrov about the lack of social distancing in Zadar, Borna said that there were no problems as the Coronavirus was under control in there. Unfortunately, things went south and both Borna and Grigor tested positive to the Coronavirus.
Coric defending Novak Djokovic
During a recent interview with the Jutarnji list, Borna stressed the fact that the intentions of Novak Djokovic and the organization were the right ones.
“I’m definitely sorry that the tournament ended that way, because we had a positive story, a humanitarian character, we played tennis after a long time and we all had. I wouldn’t go into details or point a finger, because we don’t know who actually brought the virus first and whether someone should have been tested,” he commented.
About Nick Kyrgios slamming Sascha Zverev
Talking about Nick Kyrgios calling out Sascha Zverev for breaking his promise to auto-isolate, Coric didn’t seem too impressed with both the behavior of the German and the reaction of the Australian.
“It’s simply him, I have no other explanation. I read what he wrote, but I totally care because he also likes to be a general after the battle. Zverev acted badly, but I don’t see the need to call out fellow players that way. I wouldn’t do that, but again, that is Kyrgios,” he said.
Borna was having a not fantastic year in 2020 with a 4-5 win-loss record. However, he is more than happy to resume the season and he is expected to play in the upcoming US Open if the slam will be staged this year.
