Novak Djokovic was not very convinced about playing the upcoming US Open under strong restrictions. The world no.1 was particularly unhappy with the fact that originally he could bring only 1 person with him in New York and his movements would have been restricted to the designed hotel. Therefore Djokovic decided to train on clay for the biggest part of the last few months.
However, something has changed and now tennis players are allowed to bring with them 3 people on US Open the premises. Therefore, Novak sounded more possibilistic about his participation at the slam and he was caught training on hard courts in Belgrade multiple times.
Djokovic ordered the US Open balls
During a recent Racquet Magazine Podcast, Rennae Stubbs (the host) revealed that Novak ordered the same balls that will be used at the US Open.
“Novak apparently has ordered some tennis balls from the US Open. Indicating I would imagine he is coming. We will see what happens over the next couple of weeks. New York is doing fantastically well,” she said.

Rennae added that the American slam will also be blessed for sure by the participation of some other top players such as Serena Williams, Bianca Andreescu, and Naomi Osaka. However, she is worried about the fact that Rafael Nadal keeps on practicing on clay.
“It is a little bit of worry when you see that Rafa is practicing on clay. So that is not a good sign. But Serena obviously said she is coming, Bianca Andreescu will be coming, former champion Osaka will be coming. I am excited. I think that we are gonna have as good afield as possible.”

Novak Djokovic in 2020
At the moment ranked no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 29th of February when he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 in the final in Dubai to win his 79th career title.
This season Djokovic has a 18-0 win-loss record. Novak clinched 2 titles in 2020 at the Australian Open and in Dubai.
