Simona Halep and Eugenie Bouchard will delight the tennis fans in Prague. The Canadian beauty obtained a wildcard to compete in the Czech Republic. Her participation comes a bit as a surprise as she was expected to compete in North American tournaments. The WTA event in Lexington will be held in the same week as the WTA tournament in Prague (10th August).
Simona Halep in Prague and the doubts about the US Open
Simona was widely excepted to compete in Prague. It’s more and more obvious that the Romanian ace will skip the North American swing and the US Open to get focussed on the clay season in Europe. Therefore, after playing the International event in Palermo (3rd of August), Simona will go and fly to the Czech Republic.
Simona Halep announced her participation in Prague with a video message saying:
“Hi everyone. I can’t wait to take part in the tournament in the magnificent city of Prague. See you in August.”
