Novak Djokovic has often expressed his lack of confidence about playing the upcoming US Open given the current conditions in the US. However, after training for months on clay, in the last few weeks he was spotted training on hard courts hinting that something was changing.
Recently, the world no.1 said that his doubts about competing in the American major were linked to the fact that it wasn’t sure if players were required to quarantine in Madrid after coming back from New York. That would have disrupted all the rhythm making it practically impossible to play both in Madrid and Rome, jeopardizing de facto the preparation for the French Open.
Serena Williams’ coach expressed the same doubts stating that if quarantine is required in Europe coming back from the US Open, the 23-time slam champion will have to choose between the US Open and the Roland Garros.
No Quarantine!
Spanish outlet as.com, reported that according to the order INT / 595/2020 published in the BOE of July, an isolation of 14 days is not required for “highly qualified workers whose work is necessary and cannot be postponed or carried out remotely, including the participants in high-level sports events that take place in Spain.”
The Higher Sports Council (CSD) has issued a certificate that was already used for the moto GP that will be staged this week in Jerez.
So, are we going to have Djokovic no.18 and (finally) Serena no.24?
