Serena Williams is clearly itching for coming back to competitions and the American sensation decided to play in the WTA event in Lexington. This tournament is only an “international” one and that means that it is not really important from a ranking and prize money point of view. However, Serena is well aware that she needs to clear the rust that she has developed after being out of the competitions for so long. The aim is to achieve the best preparation for the US Open.
It’s worth mentioning that Serena will be in good company in Lexington as also former world no.3, Sloane Stephens has decided to play the competition. Being Serena a top 10 player, according to the rules no other top10 player will be able to join the competition.
The event will be staged from the 10th of August.
