Matteo Berrettini is the first champion of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. The Italian sensation defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling final 16-15 15-12 12-14 8-15 2-0.

Matteo was leading 2-0 in terms of quarters. However, Stefanos managed to stage yet another phenomenal comeback and bring once more the affair to the sudden death. The Greek sensation had 2 match points and he probably missed a big opportunity to convert the second one when Berrettini was sort of stranded at the net. However, Stefanos couldn’t perform a seemingly easy passing shot and it was Berrettini eventually to clinch the match.

After the match, an exhausted Matteo Berrettinnig commented: “A couple of members of my family definitely died for heart-attack. For sure.”

At the moment ranked no.8 (career-high), the Italian played his last match on the 22nd of January when he was defeated by Tennys Sandgren 7-67 6-4 4-6 2-6 7-5 in the 2nd round of the Australian Open.

Currently the world no.6, Stefanos played his last match on the 7th of March when he overcame Jeson Patrombon 6-2 6-1 in the Rubber 4 of the Davis Cup.

During this season the Greek has a 11-5 win-loss record. Tsitsipas clinched 1 title in Marseille. Stefanos was the finalist in Dubai.
