Serena Williams is back to win slams says coach Mouratoglou

Serena is back to finally win her 24th slam hoping that the US Open will take place

Serena Williams is a woman on a mission right now. The 38-year-old is extremely focussed on getting in the best possible fitness to compete at the upcoming US Open. The goal is always the same: winning 1 slam to match Margaret Court’s record of 24 majors.

Unfortunately, Serena cannot take advantage of the physical presence of her coach Patrick Mouratoglou that is currently in the south of France where he has been running the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. However, Patrick is in close contacts with her with Serena sending him videos about her practice.

During a recent interview with tennis Majors, Patrick discussed Serena’s attitude and focus.

“Serena is practising of course. She came back to tennis to win Grand Slams. Otherwise she would be at home with her family, which she is doing also, but she would do this and run her business full-time. She came back only for that. It’s her home grand slam, so she wants to play and she wants to do well, so she’s preparing for that,” he commented.

Serena went as far as to resurface her home court in Beverly Hills with the same material that will be used at the US Open.

However, like many other tennis experts, Patrick has his doubts that the US Open will ever be played given the current Coronavirus pandemic. The Frenchman commented:

“I think that questions a lot the fact that it should happen or not, I think it starts to be difficult for the US Open to take place if you can’t have, say, South Americans or Australians. Europeans, a lot of them maybe will decide not to go because they want to play also Madrid, Rome and Roland-Garros. If there is some quarantine there from the US to Europe, then they cannot come. You don’t want to see the American championships at the US Open. You want to see a Grand Slam with all the countries.”
