Dayana Yastremska had all intentions to celebrate the concept of equality on social media, but unfortunately, that backfired… big time!
The Ukrainian sensation posted a series of half-naked pictures of her being painted black o one side. Unfortunately, that is a rather sensitive argument as the so-called “blackface” is commonly regarded as a way to denigrate people of color.
Even if Dayana, was warned about the possible consequences, she posted the pictures before delete all the posts after being badly slammed on social media.
Later, Dayana posted the following message
“Earlier today I posted pictures that I thought would spread a message of equality. It clearly did not and has been misunderstood.
I have been warned about the negative impact but I did not – and still don’t – consider it as a “blackface”. I did not intend to caricature but to share my feelings about the current situation: we should all be treated as equal.
I am so disappointed that my message has been corrupted: these pictures divided people when they were meant to unite. That’s why I deleted them.
I sincerely apologize to all the people I have offended. I truly had only good intentions.”
