Like some other top players such as Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, Simona Halep seems to be more and more against playing the US Open. The Romanian sensation has revealed more than once her doubts to play the American major given the current situation. However, she reserves the right to decide in the following weeks.

During a recent interview with the BBC, Simona explained why she is not comfortable about taking a decision on playing the US Open.

“It will be a little difficult, it depends on restrictions and a little bit worried to make that move. I have no idea at the moment because nobody knows what is going to happen after this month. I will wait and see what is being decided, see what the other players will do,” she said.

Simona is usually rather risk-averse. She decided not to play the last Olympic Games in Rio because she was concerned about the Zika virus. Also, the world no.2 has an exceptional record on clay and for this reason, she is widely expected to compete in some tournaments on the dirt in Europe where the situation is much more under control.
