The French Open planning to have as many as 20,000 fans every day

During these strange times dictated by the Coronavirus, everything is expected. Tennis is trying to resume looking for an optimal solution that probably doesn’t exist.

While experiences with the stands packed like the Adria Tour need to be avoided, some conservative solutions should be implemented. The US Open stated that the major will be staged with no fans. However, if things in the New York State keep on being under control, they might invite front-line workers and their families to see the matches. Some minor events are planning to have a limited amount of fans around. An upcoming exhibition in Berlin had the go-ahead for 800 spectators and an official event in Prague may host as many as 2,000 fans.

The organization of the French Open has just announced that up to 60% of the stands can be filled with fans and that means hosting almost 20,000 people every day.

The French Tennis Federation commented that the face mask will not be compulsory when fans will be at the stands while they need to be worn when fans will move around the premises.

“The number of spectators allowed in the stadium will be 50%-60% of the usual capacity. This reduction will allow strict distancing measures to be respected,” the FFT revelaed in a statement.
