Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev used to be good friends, but that is probably not the case anymore. The Australian slammed Sascha publicly after he was caught breaking his promise to self-isolate. Nick called the German “selfish” for his action, and later, he had a rather unpleasant quarrel over Twitter with Boris Becker that was defending his compatriot.
Will they play in Berlin?
Interestingly enough, Nick and Sascha are expected to both play in a couple of weeks an event in Berlin (bett1ACES) alongside Dominic Thiem, Jannik Sinner, Jan-Lennard Struff and Tommy Haas. The event will be staged first on grass (13-15th July) and then on hard court (17-19th July). The competition will also feature 6 top WTA players such as Kiki Bertens, Elina Svitolina, Julia Goerges and Andrea Petkovic.
Initially, the event had to be staged without fans. However, the organization has managed to obtain the go-ahead of having 800 spectators that will observe strict hygiene and social distancing. Berlin tournament director Edwin Weindorfer commented:
“Since the world of tennis will be looking toward Berlin and the tournaments, the participants and all of the staff must be conscious of their status as role models.”
It will be interesting to see if Kyrgios decides to play. In fact, the controversial Australian might not receive the best reception from the local fans after his declarations about Sascha and his spat with Boris Becker. Also, it should be awkward for him to cross paths with the world no.7 after what he said. Finally, Nick is notoriously not so happy to trave and the overall situation with the travel restrictions is rather unpredictable.

Currently the world no.40, the Australian played his last match on the 25th of February when he had to retire when playing against Ugo Humbert in the 1st round and the scoreline was 6-3 .

Now ranked no.7, Zverev played his last match on the 26th of February when he lost to Tommy Paul 6-3 6-4 in the 2nd round in Acapulco.
