Coco Gauff has started to reach stardom after she defeated Venus Wiliams in the first round in Wimbledon last year. On that occasion, it was amazing to see the ecstatic reaction of the local crowd. Unfortunately, if staged, the American teenager won’t have the same experience at the upcoming US Open that is meant to be played without fans.
Why Coco is “happy” about playing with no fans
When talking to BBC Sport, Coco admitted that it’s not a problem for her to pay in an empty stadium as she is rather used to it as the memories of her “junior days” are rather fresh.
“It will be easier for me to address. I’ve only been on tour a year so I will just go back to my junior years when we didn’t have much of a crowd when there’s only your parents at the tournament, I’ll just go back to my, I guess, my home,” said Coco.
The American also confirmed that she is looking ford to traveling again.
“I’m ready to get back on the court and travel again – I like traveling more than I like staying home,” she added.
