There are still doubts about the possibility that the US Open will be played

Serena Williams is eager to step back on the tennis court and finally win her elusive 24th slam and match Margaret Court’s record.

Serena was deeply disappointed after Wimbledon was canceled as that was probably the tournament that she had the best chances to win. However, the 38-year-old has the opportunity to win a major this year at the US Open or the Roland Garros.

While the American slam has been confirmed to take place, with the current situation in the US, the chances to play are getting slimmer. The Covid-19 infections are soaring in the US with the notable exception of the New York state where the US Open should be played.

Unfortunately, Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou is growing more and more suspicious that the US Open won’t take place this year.

“With what’s happening at the moment in the US, with the number of cases of COVID-19 going higher and higher every day, I don’t think that [The US Open] can happen

From outside, it looks a bit crazy to try to make it happen. So, I don’t know if it’s a good move. I wouldn’t say that if the situation was more stable like it is in Europe, then it’s a different story.”

Some top players such as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Simona Halep seem also reluctant about playing the major. Nick Kyrgios expressed his aversion multiple times.
