Things are going worse and worse on the Djokovic’s camp as now Novak’s father, Srdjan, is trying to use Grigor Dimitrov as the scapegoat for the huge mess that has happened at the Adria Tour.

The event in the Balkans has been canceled after Grigor Dimitrov was found positive to the Coronavirus. Eventually, after more testings, it emerged that also other players (Djokovic included), team members, and people in the community were found infected. Videos and pictures of players hugging, dancing shirtless, and doing all sorts of activities in close proximity disregarding the basics of social distancing stunned the world. Since the Adria Tour was the brainchild of Djokovic, he was the one to attract most of the critics. His father is trying to deflect it.

Dimitrov as a scapegoat

Grigor Dimitrov was the first one to show symptoms and he decided to withdraw from the event after losing 4-1 4-1 to Borna Coric in Zadar. The Bulgarian was completely out of sorts during the match. Once back in Monaco, he confirmed that he was infected by the Covis-19. The fact that the Bulgarian ace was symptomatic, doesn’t mean that he was the one to bring the virus in the community. However, Novaks’ father decided to point the finger on Dimitrov.

During an interview with RTL and as reported by other local media, he commented as follows.

“Why did it happen? Because the man [Dimitrov] probably came sick, who knows where. He didn’t get tested there, he was tested somewhere else. I don’t think that’s right. Well, what to do. He inflicted great damage to Croatia and to us as a family and to Serbia.

Srdjan Djokovic

Djokovic’s father keeps on making statements against Novak’s colleagues. Back in the days, he said that Nadal was not friendly anymore with Novak after the Serbian started to beat him and that was not nice from Nadal. Rafa commented: “Djokovic’s father should talk to his son. I’ve always got on very well with him and I still do. I’ve lost lots of matches against him and vice-versa, but we’ve never had a problem.”

Srdjan cherishes attacking Roger Federer saying all sorts of things against the Swiss legend. Earlier in the year, he said that the 20-time slam champion is jealous of his son and recently he said that Federer “simply cannot accept the fact that Nadal and Djokovic will be better than him.”

This is a rather creative way to attract more negativity to his son, and Novak doesn;t need this right now.
