Novak Djokovic enjoyed a glorious start of his Adria Tour. A lot of great players such as Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov, and Marin Cilic agreed to take part and the fans were on fire. There was a great atmosphere in Belgrade and Djokovic was (rightly so) emotional about the great turn out and support of the local crowd.

Unfortunately, for some reason, the organization considered it appropriate not to follow any common standard of social distancing causing the horror of the international press and social media. Besides recording an alarmingly big crowd in the stands, it was curious that a wild party in the night was held in Belgrade with players also dancing shirtless. Things went bad in Zadar after Grigor Dimitrov was found positive to Covid-19 back in Monaco. At that point, the tour had to be stopped.

Why Djokovic refused to be tested

According to Kurir, a Serbian tabloid, they have been informed by Novak’s team that he refused to get tested once he arrived in Croatia because he and the other members of his entourage didn’t show any symptoms. However, back in Belgrade, the world no.1 would follow the procedures that are advised by his doctors.

The good news is that Novak’s coach, Goran Ivanisevic, decided to be tested on his own initiative to test negative.
