We have another thrilling Federer – Tsonga. The two are going to clash once again in a slam quarterfinal. Tsonga is playing very well, but Roger seems to have found a really solid tennis.

Roger’s road to quarters

Roger is coming out from a nightmare draw in style, great style. The Swiss Maestro defeated in straight sets Paire, Davydenko, Tomic and Raonic. The important part of it is that all matches were tough tests (especially the last 3) and Roger got through without spending much mental and physical energy and that is a huge asset for him.

Jo’s road to quarters

Tsonga had a much easier draw to defeat LLodra, Soeda and Kavcic in straight sets and Gasquet in 4. In the 4th round he displayed a marvellous explosive tennis against his compatriot especially in the 1st set to lose the second and cruise in the last 2.

Head to head

It’s 8-3 for Roger, 2-1 in slams. Roger has always won the first 2 sets in slams. The two player have already clashed in Melbourne in 2010 (semis) where Federer won 6-2 6-3 6-2.

Our Pick

It should be Roger in 3 or 4. The Maestro is playing so well and he should be able to overcome Tsonga. Jo may have a set of explosive/unplayable tennis, but is improbable he can keep up for 3 sets unless he proves our wrong playing like he did in Wimbledon 2011 when he recovered from an 2 sets down against the Maestro.
