Serena Williams is chasing her elusive 24th slam title and the Coronavirus has not been helping. Tours have been halted since early March and Wimbledon was canceled. However, the great news is that the US Open and the Roland Garros are both going to happen in 2020. This means that Serena (23 slams) has the chance of matching Margaret Court’s record already this year. Being 38, this is great news for the American icon as the clock is ticking pretty fast right now for her despite the fact that she is managing to stay fit.

Why Serena will probably play the US Open

The American is definitely more than focussed on competing in majors. However, as highlighted by her coach Patrick Mouratoglou, being away from her daughter for 3 weeks would make things rather difficult for her.

During the last few weeks, there was a rumor going around that players would have been allowed to bring along only 1 person as their team at the US Open. This means that Serena would have been separated from her lovely daughter Olympia for 3 weeks if she managed to reach the latest stages of the major.

However, in the official communication from USTA there was no mention about the restriction of the number of the team members. Is addition, the organization is trying to find a solution to give the option to players to reside in a house instead of being in the designed hotel. This would allow players with big teams and families to enjoy a more comfortable set up and not to be separated from the loved ones for long.
