Amanda Anisimova and Nick Kyrgios are great friends. Whenever there are joint events with ATP and WTA players, they often manage to spend some time together. However, the Australian star and the American teenager are currently disagreeing about a rather hot topic: playing the US Open.
Nick Kyrgios and his compatriot John Millman has recently joined the side of some other top tennis players about not playing the US Open because of the current situation. Nick called the ATP ‘selfish” for pushing the idea of playing the slam. Curiously, Anisimova’s dear friend Danielle Collins slammed Djokovic for being “selfish” for not supporting the slam.
The ATP is trying to make the US Open go ahead. Selfish with everything going on at the moment. Obviously Covid, but also with the riots, together we need to overcome these challenges before tennis returns in my opinion. https://t.co/tEHPvr4miB

Anisimova and the US Open
Amanda posted (and then deleted) a tweet expressing her disagreement with Nick saying that it would be right to give it a try to the US Open.
“I don’t see why not give it a try. Of course there will be a ton of safety protocols in place, and many precautions made. Other sports are coming back, so why can’t tennis? Playing without fans is a huge bummer, but at least we get to play at all,” she tweeted.
Amanda endured a rather dramatic moment just before the US Open as her beloved father (and long term coach) died unexpectedly. Eventually, the American decided to skip the major to regroup.
