US OPEN. Thiem, Zverev are as negative as Djokovic and Nadal about playing the slam right now

Dominic and Zascha are not happy about playing the US Open right now.

Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are on the same wavelength about playing (or not playing) the US Open. As stressed many times by Djokovic, playing the US Open at the current conditions is not feasible. Besides the overall uncertainty about international travel, players are not keen on being confined in a hotel near the airport and bringing along only 1 person.

Dominic commented as follows.

“All of these circumstances are pretty tough. I think some circumstances will have to change to make sense to go there. Well nobody knows, maybe things improve, maybe not, so we’ll have to wait until the facts are out and then decide,” he commented.

Last year at the US Open, Dominic was stunned te first round by Thomas Fabbiano 6-4 3-6 6-3 6-2.

Zverev and the US Open

Sascha agrees with Dominic about the complications of playing the American slam. The German would be extremely happy to compete, but the proposed conditions are not making him comfortable.

“It’s great if we get the opportunity to play, but under these circumstances, I don’t think a lot of players will feel comfortable in the environment there. So that’s my opinion. But it’s not really up to us players in that way; in a way, the US Open decides,” he said.
