Naomi Osaka has been extremely vocal in the last few weeks after the murder of George Floyd. The Japanese star has been venting her anger on social media agaisnt racism and police brutality.

Talking to Reuters, Naomi had a dig also at the NFL. In fact, back in the days, NFL star Colin Kaepernick was heavily criticized for kneeling during the national anthem to protest against police brutality agaisnt the black community. The gesture was heavily criticized by US President Donald Trump and eventually Kaepernick became a free agent the year after with no team willing to hire him.

The apology of the NFL

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell apologized for the way the League has handled players’ protests, but Naomi wasn’t convinced about the apology. Talking to Reuters, Osaka had a dig at the NFL as follows.

“Colin has been putting this message out since 2016. It took a pandemic, an economic crisis, and a torturous murder on camera, all at the same time, for people to really hear him. It shouldn’t have been that way. If the NFL wants to show that they really care the first thing they should do is take a knee together and give Colin his job back,” said Naomi.

Well, you can’t say she hasn’t a point! Can you?
