A few days ago, Roger Federer’s coach Severin Luthi revealed that the Swiss sensation was not having a great recovery after the knee operation he had back in February.
Unfortunately, the Swiss ace announced on social media that he had to have another procedure and therefore he won’t be back in 2020. In his statement, Roger drew a positive parallel with what happened 4 years ago when he also had a knee operation before coming back in style in 2017 and win 2 slams.
Roger released the following communication.
“Dear Fans,
I hope you are staying safe and healthy.
A few weeks ago, having experienced a setback during my initial rehabilitation, I had to have an additional quick arthroscopic procedure on my right knee. Now, much like I did leading up to the 2017 season, I plan to take the necessary time to be 100% ready to play at my highest level. I will be missing my fans and the tour dearly but, I will look forward to seeing everyone back on tour at the start of the 2021 season.
All the best,
Roger”

Roger in 2020 played only 6 matches and all of them at the Australian Open where he also admitted he was already injured. Not a great year for him and tennis in general.
