Rafael Nadal is struggling to find the right motivation now that tennis has been halted. Top tennis players are used to competitions and to have a proper and structured routine. That is not the case right now. Unfortunately, following the suspension of the tours, it’s not clear when and how tennis will be back. This uncertainty is so unsettling than even Roger Federer admitted that he has not been training because he cannot find the reason why.

Nadal giving priority to friends and family

After being locked for a couple of months, Rafa is back to training. However, he admitted that he has not been practicing every day and for now he wants to avoid getting injured while keeping his body in good shape. The Spanish ace is still not convinced that the US Open will take place with the current situation and there is the possibility that he will get back only for the short clay court season in September playing in Rome and at the French Open. However, everything needs to be set.

“My motivation today is not thinking about tennis all the time honestly, no? I am on other things. It’s following all the worldwide situation. Of course, putting attention on try to hold my body in good shape. That’s it. I just prepare my body when we have a calendar. I need the body ready to start the real work. That’s the motivation today,” he said.

Rafa also revealed that it is not an easy moment and therefore he is trying to make the most out of it enjoying spending time with his friends and family.

“It’s a tough period of time. Just come back to the not normal life yet, but coming back to this normal situation. Happy to be able to stay some moments with the friends, some moments with the family. That’s the main thing for me today,” he added.

Nadal has been spotted enjoying his new mega-catamaran with his wife Xisca and family. That’s a good way to escape depression.
