Kyrgios admits he had too much alcohol before beating Nadal in Cincinnati. VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

Nick revealed that he was himself surprised for how well he played before beating Nadal in Cincinnati

Nick Kyrgios and Rafael Nadal share a rather bitter rivalry on court. As per the Australian, Rafa is his polar opposite. While Nick is well-known for not putting too much effort into tennis, the Mallorcan is fully dedicated to the sport. Sometimes, this clash of styles produces fascinating results.

Nadal is not happy to face Kyrgios as the Australian is completely unpredictable and his overaggressive style can cause problems to Rafa’s solid tennis. 3 years ago, Kyrgios managed to beat Rafa in the quarters in Cincinnati in straight sets 6-2 7-5.

Kyrgios getting drunk before playing

Nick made a surprising revelation while chatting with his friend and comedian Elliot Loney. The world no.40 admitted that he was still recovering from a hangover when he faced the Mallorcan.

“We went out and we had a great time. Before going on the field, I knew I had to serve well and play super aggressively if I wanted to have a chance. I couldn’t even move, maybe I still had a hangover. I could not believe how I could play at that level after spending the whole night having fun,” said Nick.

This is not the first time that Nick has fun before facing the King of Clay. Last year, Kyrgios was seen having fun at a local pub until late in the night before facing Rafa in the 2nd round in Wimbledon. Eventually, Nadal won 6-3 3-6 7-65 7-63.
