Novak Djokovic is chasing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the man with the most slam titles. The Serbian sensation has won 17 majors vs. Roger’s 20 and Rafa’s 19. However, Novak is in great shape, and given his excellent fitness, he seems to be destined to overtake his 2 rivals in the years to come.
The Coronavirus pandemic has halted tennis until August and the various stakeholders are working hard to resume the sport at least on the occasion of the US Open. Unfortunately, some top players have already expressed their doubts for various reasons. Federer said that he is not very keen on playing without fans and Nadal doesn’t see the possibility to play the US Open with the current situation. Recently, Novak Djokovic said that with the proposed measures it’s impossible to stage the US Open.

During a recent interview with Blic, the world no.1 said that the current measures such as sleeping near the airport and being tested too often will make things impossible to manage.
“Maybe I shouldn’t talk about it, but… We’d have to sleep in hotels close to the airport and be tested two or three times a week,” said Novak.
In addition, Djokovic is not pleased with the fact that the US Open has the idea of allowing only 1 person accompanying the players at the stadium, This would pose a big problem for tennis players that are used to having a team of 5 or 6 with them. Instead, the organization would like to provide a “shared staff” of physical trainers and physiotherapists to minimize the number of people at the premises.
“And it’s not getting any better in terms of being in the stadium. We would only be allowed to be accompanied by one person. It’s just not possible. You have to take into account the coaches, the physical trainers, the physiotherapists. It all seems very complicated to me. I understand these measures, yes, because there are huge financial stakes around the organisation of the US Open. We’ll see what happens.”
Recently Djokovic has also expressed his controversial view that he is not sure that he will be back to pro-tennis if a vaccine would be required to compete.
